Wisconsin is the nations leading producer of cranberries, producing over 60% of countries crop. It is mostly grown in central and nothern parts of Wisconsin by more than 250 growers covering 21,000 acres. The Cranberry is the State’s officail fruit. Cranberries grow on low-running vines and during harvest the marshes are flooded causing the berries to float to the top thanks to small air pockets inside the berry.
