Monthly Minutes - June 16, 2017


The meeting was called to order by Chair. Jim Melin. There were 17 in attendance. Minutes of the May 11, 2017 meeting were read and approved, Lade/Hinrichs/Carried. Treasurers report was reviewed, there is $496,164.27 in cash assets. Report was approved, Hinrichs/Lade/Carried. Resident Issues: Reid MacFarland presented his request for a donation of $2500 for the eradication of the invasive species on the Trade Lakes in the Town of Trade Lake. There was much discussion with those in attendance weighing in on this issue. The board determined that due to the many invasive weed issues facing many residents in the town they cannot use taxpayers dollars to help with one without helping all and to start would result in more requests which would put a tax burden on all residents in the town. It is the boards hope that the Lake Association would consider fund raising as they have in the past. Richard Hess representing the residents on Little Trade Road requested the town send a letter to Burnett County Zoning addressing the issue of short term rental properties on this private drive. There was a motion to send a letter to Jason Towne of Burnett County Zoning expressing the boards concern with the rental property issue on this private road, Melin/Hinrichs/Carried. Bids for the Scrub/Fog Sealing of Cedar Point Rd and Whispering Pines Rd. were opened and reviewed with the project being awarded to  Scott Construction at $113,067. Starwire Technologies is applying for a state grant to help bring fiber optic into the Town of Trade Lake.  He requested the Board send a letter of support for this project to bring High Speed Internet to residents in the Town of Trade Lake. The clerk will prepare and send a letter. There was an application to renew a liqour license by Trade Lake Store.  Motion to approve this renewal by Lade, second Hinrichs. Carried. The clerk and treasurer presented the board with options for Waste disposal carriers. There was a motion to switch from Waste Management to Republic Services at a rate of $279.00 (minimal fuel variance exception) for 2 8 yard containers. Lade/Hinrichs/Carried. Bills in the amount of $16,445.48 were approved for payment, Hinrichs/Lade/Carried. The board has received a letter of resignation from Dwight effective July 28, 2017The clerk will publish a Help Wanted for a full time Road Maintenance Person. CDL or proof of pending CDL will be required. Ability to lift a minimum of #80 and pass a work physical, Experience with heavy equipment and also basic mechanic skills. Starting wage to be determined based on qualifications. Job applications can be mailed or emailed to clerk by July 6, 2017. Clerk will also run a Help Wanted for the Part time position of Recycle Attendant. Must be available Saturdays 9:00 - 2:00, must be dependable and personable. Additional agenda items for the July meeting to include - Revise Employee Agreement. The board will go to closed session to look over job applications. July meeting will be held one week early on July 6, 2017 to expedite the hiring of a new Road Maintenance Person.Lade made a motion to adjourn the meeting, second by Hinrichs.
